Dakota Fanning wore a classic sleeveless little black dress by Giorgio Armani to the 76th Emmy Performer Nominee Celebration at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Beverly Hills on Friday. She kept her look minimalist, wore her hair down with a middle part, paired her knee-length dress with black strappy stilettos and added a little sparkle with a single ring.
Stylist Samantha McMillen, who works with Brie Larson, Daisy Ridley and Ana de Armas, coordinated her look.

“’90s baby,” Fanning captioned a photo of herself modeling the look on Instagram. Not only does the look embody ’90s minimalism, but the photo also shares a milestone with the designer himself, who turned 90 on July 11. In October, Armani’s brand will celebrate the opening of a new building in New York City on Madison Avenue while also unveiling its Spring 2025 collection.
Fanning is nominated for an Emmy for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the Netflix series “Ripley.” She plays Marge Sherwood in the thriller miniseries based on Patricia Highsmith’s novel “The Talented Mr. Ripley.” Fanning’s character is married to Tom Ripley, played by Andrew Scott, who is also nominated for this year’s ceremony.
The actress has won acting awards since starring in “I Am Sam” in 2001 at the age of 7, but this is her first Emmy nomination.
Other celebrities who attended the 76th Emmy Performer Nominee Celebration included Sheryl Lee Ralph, Liza Colón-Zayas, Mark Duplass, Katie Aselton, Joely Fisher, Tyler James Williams, Kali Reis and Miriam Leone.
In July, Fanning co-hosted Saks’ annual summer dinner in the Hamptons, wearing a yellow linen Zimmermann dress. “I love Zimmermann,” she told WWD’s Leigh Nordstrom during cocktail hour at Sag Harbor Tavern. “I think it’s so summery and fresh and easy.”
At the 2024 Tribeca Film Festival in June, she opted for another classic monochrome look, wearing an ivory satin blouse and a flared black midi skirt.
The 2024 Emmys will take place on September 15 and will air live on ABC. Fanning also stars alongside Nicole Kidman in Netflix’s The Perfect Couple, which premiered earlier this month.
